Same-day gate repair services

Everything on a gate that can stop working — fixed today

Operators, electrics, ironwork and access control. One crew, one invoice, and no handing you on to a second company halfway through the job.

  • A gate stuck part-way open across a driveway, blocking vehicle access

    24/7 Emergency Gate Repair

A gate stuck open is a security problem and a gate stuck closed is a fire-lane problem. Either way it does not wait until Monday — we answer the phone at any hour and roll a truck.

    • Live answer around the clock, not an answering service
    • Gate secured or manually released on arrival
    • Weekend, holiday and overnight call-outs
    • Temporary make-safe the same visit if a part must be ordered
    More on emergency gate repair
  • The inside of a gate operator with the control board exposed for testing

    Gate Motor & Operator Repair

Burnt-out motor, dead control board, or an opener that hums but will not move? Nine times out of ten the fault is one replaceable component rather than the whole operator — and we carry the ones that actually fail on the truck.

    • Control board and capacitor replacement
    • Limit switch, encoder and loop detector faults
    • Motor burnout and gearbox rebuilds
    • Same-day completion on stocked parts
    More on gate motor repair
  • An automatic driveway gate part-way through its opening cycle

    Automatic Gate Repair

Slide, swing, cantilever or barrier arm — if it moves on its own and has stopped, this is the call. We diagnose the whole system rather than only the part you can see.

    • Off-track and derailed slide gates re-set
    • Roller, chain, bearing and V-track replacement
    • Safety photo-eye and edge sensor faults
    • Full cycle test and force calibration before we leave
    More on automatic gate repair
  • An electric driveway gate with its operator and power supply mounted alongside

    Electric Gate Repair

Dead pad, tripping breaker, or a gate that works fine until the sun goes down. Electrical faults on a gate are rarely where they appear to be, and chasing one properly is the difference between a fix and a return visit.

    • Transformer, breaker and low-voltage supply faults
    • Buried wire breaks traced and repaired
    • Solar panel and battery backup systems
    • Surge and lightning damage assessment
    More on electric gate repair
  • A wrought iron driveway gate with decorative scrollwork, closed across an entrance

    Iron Gate Repair & Welding

Cracked welds, sagging leaves, a post the clay soil has pushed out of plumb. We weld on site, so an iron gate never has to leave the property to be repaired.

    • Mobile welding and fabrication on site
    • Hinge rebuild and post re-plumbing
    • Vehicle impact damage straightened and re-hung
    • Rust treatment and colour-matched refinishing
    More on iron gate repair
  • A commercial slide gate across a business entrance

    Commercial & HOA Gate Repair

High-cycle entrances fail differently to a home driveway gate. We work with property managers and HOA boards on scheduled maintenance as well as call-outs, and we invoice the way you need it.

    • Apartment, HOA, industrial and gated-community entrances
    • Barrier arms, turnstiles and high-cycle slide gates
    • Preventive maintenance schedules that stop the call-out
    • Board-ready written quotes and itemised invoicing
    More on commercial gate repair
  • A telephone entry call box mounted on a post at a gated entrance

    Access Control & Intercom Repair

The gate is fine — nobody can get through it. Keypads, callboxes, card readers, telephone entry and app-based access, repaired and reprogrammed.

    • Keypad, callbox and telephone entry repair
    • Card, fob and transmitter reprogramming
    • Directory rebuilds and resident code resets
    • Cellular conversion for dead landline entry systems
    More on access control repair
  • A newly installed automatic driveway gate closed across a residential entrance

    Gate Installation

When a repair genuinely is not the economical answer we say so — and we install the replacement ourselves rather than handing you on to somebody else.

    • Operator upgrades on an existing gate
    • New slide, swing and cantilever installations
    • Custom iron fabrication matched to existing fence
    • Wiring, safety compliance and full cycle testing
    More on gate installation

Is this your problem?

Tell us what it is doing. We will tell you what it is.

Pick the one that sounds like your gate — it fills in the form for you. Or skip it and just call; we diagnose plenty of these over the phone.

Not on the list? Gates find new ways to fail every week. Describe it to us and we will tell you whether it is a call-out or something you can check yourself.

How it works

How same-day gate repair works

No call centre, no lead broker and no surprise invoice. This is what happens between your first call and a gate that opens again.

  1. Call or send the form

A real person answers, 24 hours a day. Tell us what the gate is doing and roughly where you are, and we give you an honest arrival window for your address before you hang up.

  2. We diagnose on site

A Shield technician tests the whole system — power, control board, sensors, limits, drive and the gate itself — rather than swapping the first part that looks guilty.

  3. You approve a written price

The on-site estimate is free. You get a written price for the actual fault, and nothing starts until you say yes. If a repair is not the economical answer, we tell you.

  4. Fixed and cycle-tested

Most repairs are finished on that first visit from parts on the truck. Before we leave, the gate is run through full cycles and its safety devices and force settings are checked.

Usually fixed the same visit

Common faults we carry the parts for and normally finish on the first trip:

  • Remote, transmitter and keypad reprogramming
  • Photo-eye alignment and safety sensor replacement
  • Capacitors, limit switches and common control boards
  • Off-track slide gates, rollers, chains and V-track
  • Tripped power, breakers and low-voltage supply faults
  • On-site welding of cracked welds and sagging hinges

When a part has to be ordered

Some jobs need a specific part. When that happens you hear it on the day, not on the invoice — and the gate is made safe the same visit:

  • Gate manually released or secured so the property is usable
  • Boards for older or discontinued operator models
  • Complete motors and gearboxes for less common brands
  • Custom iron fabrication after major vehicle impact
  • A written price for the return visit before you commit

Same-day repair for every gate type

Residential driveway gates and commercial barrier arms fail for different reasons and need different parts on the truck. We carry both.

  • Sliding gates
  • Swing gates
  • Cantilever gates
  • Barrier arms
  • Driveway gates
  • Iron & steel gates
  • Wooden gates
  • Ornamental gates
  • Residential gates
  • Commercial gates
  • HOA & community gates
  • Industrial gates

We service every major gate operator brand

Including hydraulic FAAC units, which most of this market will not touch and will quote you a full replacement on instead.

Why Shield

You are calling the company that shows up

Most of the gate-repair adverts you will click today are run by lead brokers. They take your details, sell them on, and somebody else arrives — sometimes trading under a different name entirely. We are the contractor.

  • We are the crew that shows up

Shield technicians do the work. Your call is not sold on to a rotating list of subcontractors, and the name on the invoice is the name on this page. If something is not right afterwards, you are calling the people who did it.

  • Fixed right the first time

Sixteen years in this metroplex and a truck stocked with the parts that actually fail here. Most jobs are finished in one visit, and when a part genuinely has to be ordered you hear that on the day rather than reading it on the invoice.

  • Priced before we start

A free on-site estimate, a written price, and no work begins until you approve it. Gate repair is a trade with a reputation problem, and this is how we decline to earn it.

The same-day guide

What same-day gate repair actually means

“Same-day” is printed on almost every gate repair advert in Dallas–Fort Worth, and it means very different things depending on who is behind the ad. For a lead broker it usually means your details were passed to somebody the same day. For Shield Gate Repair it means our own technician comes out, finds the actual fault and — in most cases — leaves with the gate working again.

That is only possible because of two things: a crew that has been diagnosing gate operators across the Metroplex for over 16 years, and trucks stocked with the parts that genuinely fail here — capacitors, control boards for the common operators, photo-eyes, limit switches, rollers, chains and receivers. A company that has to order every part cannot offer same-day repair, however the advert is worded.

Emergency gate repair versus a same-day appointment

If a gate is stuck open on a property that needs to be secure, stuck closed across the only way in or out, or has been hit by a vehicle, treat it as an emergency and call (214) 735-4314 — we answer at any hour, including nights, weekends and holidays. Our 24/7 emergency gate repair page covers what happens on those call-outs. If the gate is merely unreliable — slow, noisy, or refusing to close every few cycles — a same-day or next-day booking is usually the better fit, and the form above is the quickest way in.

Why most gates can be fixed on the first visit

A gate that has stopped working rarely needs a new operator. Most failures come down to one component: a weak capacitor that leaves the motor humming, a misaligned photo-eye that makes the gate reverse, a limit switch that has drifted, a burnt control board after a storm, or a slide gate that has jumped its track. Each of those is a diagnosis and a part swap rather than a replacement, and each is something we carry. We service every major operator brand, from LiftMaster and Elite to hydraulic FAAC units, so the brand of your opener is rarely the thing that slows a repair down.

Residential, HOA and commercial gates

Home driveway gates, apartment and HOA entrances, and commercial or industrial gates all get the same-day treatment, but they fail differently. A residential swing gate is more likely to be a sensor or a remote; an apartment slide gate running hundreds of cycles a day is more likely to be chain, roller or board wear. Property managers can also ask for scheduled preventive maintenance so the emergency call never has to happen. See our full list of gate repair services for detail on each.

What it costs

We do not publish a price list, because the cost depends almost entirely on which part has failed. What we do instead is diagnose the gate on site for free and give you a written price before any work begins — including telling you honestly when a repair is not the economical choice. Every repair we carry out is covered by our warranty on parts and workmanship.

Straight answers

Same-day gate repair questions

Can you really repair my gate the same day?

In most cases, yes. Our trucks carry the parts that commonly fail on gate operators in Dallas–Fort Worth, so most repairs are finished on the first visit. If your gate needs a part we do not carry, we tell you on the day, make the gate safe or manually operable before we leave, and give you a written price for the return visit.

How fast can you get to me?

Call and we will give you a real arrival window for your address before you hang up, rather than a promise printed on a website. We run 24/7 emergency dispatch across the Metroplex and most repairs are booked the same day. If we cannot reach you quickly we will say so on the call instead of leaving you waiting.

What should I do while I wait for the technician?

Keep people, pets and vehicles out of the gate’s path, and do not try to force a motorised gate open or closed by hand — that can strip the gearbox. If you know where your operator’s manual release is and it is safe to use, you can release the gate. If you see sparks, a smell of burning or damaged wiring, switch off power to the operator at the breaker and tell us when you call.

Do you charge for the estimate?

No. The on-site estimate is free and there is no obligation to book the work. A technician comes out, diagnoses the actual fault and gives you a written price. Nothing starts until you approve that price.

What does a typical gate repair cost?

It depends almost entirely on which component failed. Reprogramming a remote or keypad is the cheapest call on our list; a photo-eye, limit switch or capacitor replacement sits in the middle; a control board or a motor is the top end. Rather than publish a range that may have nothing to do with your gate, we diagnose it on site for free and give you the actual number before any work begins — including telling you honestly when a repair is not the economical choice.

Do you work on my brand of opener?

Almost certainly. We service LiftMaster, FAAC, Elite, Viking, Ramset, All-O-Matic, DoorKing, Eagle, Linear, HySecurity, US Automatic, Apollo, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, Nice, BFT and GTO. That includes hydraulic FAAC units, which many DFW companies will not touch and will quote a full replacement on instead.

Can you repair a gate that was hit by a car?

Yes, and it is one of the most common calls we take. Impact damage usually means a bent frame or leaf, a moved or cracked post, and an operator knocked out of alignment. We weld on site, so an iron gate does not have to be removed from the property to be straightened and re-hung.

Do you service HOAs and commercial properties?

Yes. Apartment complexes, gated communities, HOA entrances, industrial yards and commercial car parks are a large part of what we do. High-cycle entrances fail differently to a home driveway gate, so we offer scheduled preventive maintenance alongside call-outs, with written quotes suitable for a board and itemised invoicing for property managers.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Shield Gate Repair is licensed and insured, and we will provide our documentation on request before any work begins.

Do you offer a warranty?

Every repair we carry out is covered by our warranty on parts and workmanship. Ask your technician for the specific terms that apply to your job when they hand you the written estimate.

Still not sure? Ask us on the phone — it costs nothing. More answers on our full FAQ page.
