F. Crandall gave it a right of way across his land, and for most of the following century it stayed a small farming town on that line.

US-175 has changed that, and the town is now taking commuter growth from Dallas onto ground that was being worked very recently. The practical consequence is one we see across this whole eastern edge: subdivisions built on made ground that has not finished settling, sitting alongside farm entrances that have been in place for forty years.

Our new-build gate has started catching. Is it faulty?

Usually not. On ground that was farmland until recently, the fill under a new drive settles for several years, so the surface and the posts the gate was commissioned against have both shifted slightly. Re-learning the travel against the gate as it now sits normally resolves it and needs no parts.

Can you still get parts for an old farm gate operator?
