Gate repair in Melissa
Melissa was laid out in 1872 when the Houston and Texas Central built through, and it was crossed again in 1908 by the Texas Electric Railway interurban running between Dallas and Denison. Two rail alignments through one small town leave a mark that outlives the track.
Embankments, cuttings and old rights of way still shape where roads run and how properties meet them, and a surprising number of frontages here approach the road at an angle inherited from a railway rather than from anything about the land. For gate work that shows up as geometry: drives that meet the road obliquely give a gate less room to open into and worse sight lines when pulling out, and it changes where safety devices should sit and how long the gate should hold open.
It is worth measuring rather than assuming a square frontage, because in Melissa a good many of them are not.
What we see most in Melissa
Laid out along an 1872 railway and later crossed by the Dallas–Denison interurban, so old rail alignments still constrain where drives and gates can sit.

Gate Operator Brands We Repair
We fix the operators nobody else wants to touch. Most gate companies replace the whole operator because diagnosing it is harder than selling you a new one. We repair control boards, limit switches, hydraulic pumps and gearboxes on all of these — and every tile below is a photograph of that manufacturer’s equipment, not a logo.

Melissa gate repair questions
Our driveway meets the road at an angle. Does that affect the gate?
It affects the geometry quite a lot. An angled frontage gives a swing gate less clear arc and gives you worse visibility when pulling out, so the position of the photo-eyes and the hold-open time both want setting for that rather than to a default. On tighter angles a slide is often the safer configuration.
Is there anything unusual about older properties here?
Mostly the land divisions rather than the buildings. Boundaries here follow rail rights of way that are a century and a half old, so frontages and access points can be shaped by something that is no longer visible. We would rather measure the site than work from a plan that assumes a rectangle.
