Trophy Club gate repair questions

Our house backs onto the golf course and the driveway is short. Does that change the gate work?

It changes where the safety devices go and how the timers are set. A short drive means a vehicle waiting for the gate is partly in the street, so a slow open-and-close cycle is not just inconvenient, it is a hazard. We set the timing and the sensor positions for the drive you actually have rather than to a default, and on very tight frontages a slide gate is sometimes the safer answer than a swing.

Our gate is as old as the house. Is a replacement the only option?

Rarely. The gate, the posts and the hinges are separate from the operator, and on most 1970s and 1980s installations the ironwork is in better condition than the electronics driving it. Where the original board is genuinely discontinued we fit a current operator behind the existing gate, which preserves the frontage and costs a fraction of replacing the lot.
